RIATMP1148– Menu Bar, Photoshop Tutorial.

Create a new Photoshop document. Choose the rounded rectangle tool, set the radius to 18 pixels, and create a wide rounded rectangle. It doesn’t matter what color it is because we’ll add Layer Styles. Now go to Layer/Layer Styles/Gradient Overlay. For reference please follow the image shown bellow.

Now on that same layer add Layer/Layer Styles/ Outer Glow. Please follow the image shown bellow.

Now its time to add some color and drama in our menu bar. Create a new layer and name it pink. Now select a portion of our menu bar from the right hand side. Now come to “Pink Layer” and fill that portion with color (#de13cf).

We need create divider lines. For that create a new layer and with Rectangular Marquee Toll create a thin Rectangle line. Fill this with color (#222222). Now copy this layer and fill that with darker color (#020202). Now align and place both lines side by side and merge those 2 layers into one. Make few more copy of that line and align properly. Merge all lines into one layer name “Line”.

Now add text for logo. Write DOTCOM. We will few Layer Styles now. So go to Layer/Layer Styles/Gradient Overlay and Stroke. For reference please follow the image shown bellow. Also add your other menu text.

This is the 2nd part of this Photoshop tutorial, to create a menu bar., where we’ll be creating a reflection of the menu bar. Merge all menu and text layers into a single layer.

Duplicate the menu bar layer from the layers panel, and flip it vertically (Edit > transform > flip vertical). Create a new layer above the menu bar and the duplicate.

Create another layer. Make a selection using the rectangular marquee tool. Choose the gradient tool, set it to the linear gradient and then open the gradient editor. Choose “foreground to transparent”. Set the foreground color to white and drag the gradient tool within the selection on the new layer. And you should have something as shown below!
